About Vern’s

Neighborhood eatery offering Italian-inspired dishes, pasta, pizza, and craft cocktails.

Located at 696 Park Ave, Rochester, NY 14607, Vern’s operates as a restaurant serving Rochester in New York. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

This group covers the bars, diners, family restaurants, fast-food spots and other kitchens that serve pizza alongside a broader menu. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Sports bars fill up on game nights and often run pizza-and-pitcher specials; diners and fast-food chains keep long hours, sometimes around the clock. Sales tax is added at the register on top of menu prices.

Hours are published for 2 days a week. On most of those days it is open 4–9 PM. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (585) 340-6689. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, iloveverns.com.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 485 reviews, which is a strong result for a restaurant in Rochester and suggests consistent service.

Rochester is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Rochester is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

While visiting a friend in Rochester, she took me to her favorite place, Vern’s! I immediately knew why it’s a favorite. We were quoted a wait of 45-50 minutes and were seated in half the time. The hostesses were very friendly. Our server, Christine, a literal angel on earth. So attentive and truly cared about making the dining experience pleasurable and offered recommendations that didn’t disappoint. The food was amazing, not a single complaint and the tiramisu knocked the socks off from any other in existence. Will definitely be returning!

My husband and I went for the first time on Friday and read the reviews and waited till about 8:30PM. It was still busy, but we were able to be seated for a table for two and the hostess was so very nice! Our server Adam was amazing and he knew it was our first time and explained everything and we had a phenomenal experience in the food was excellent! We shared the broken Barrata appetizer, roasted garlic appetizer, had a bee sting pizza, and a steak for entrées which we split and took 1/2 home, except for the broken Baratta! All was amazing! I had an orange lemon cello spritzer. The wine was natural and my husband enjoyed a Pinot Noir. The kitchen was the smallest I ever saw, and was amazed of what they produced and how they had to stand by a hot pizza oven turning out delicious dishes! Oh, and to top it off, we had a piece of the olive oil chocolate cake with the orange glaze and that was delicious! If you don’t want to wait, go early or go later. Sitting outside was an option, but it was getting dark and not a fan of bugs. Inside was great, but it’s very noisy and can get hard to hear but that’s the atmosphere and it was wonderful! Can’t wait to return and try some oth

Small kitchen that's open to the middle of the restaurant, so limited menu and items come out as they are prepared. Better for couples or small group. Put our name in around 5:30 for outside on a beautiful Friday, waiting just over an hour, but they text you when table is ready so you can enjoy a walk around Park Ave or down to Figgy while you wait. Outdoor sidewalk seating is great to enjoy the few nice days we get in Rochester, indoor looked cramped but would also be nice for an fast paced experience. Disappointed there's only hand dryers in restrooms. Food was great, the bee sting pizza fantastic, foldable slices, soft thin dough, tasty ingredients. The lost meatball ragu also fantastic, chopped meatballs in a tasty creamy sauce over shells topped with fresh ricotta cheese. The tomato pie is what it, not for me, but it comes out quick if you're hungry for an app. We'll be back for sure!

Amazing food, friendly staff, talented bartenders, and great atmosphere! I recommend parking in the 7/11 plaza if you can't find street parking ($3 for 2 hours and about a 2 minute walk from the restaurant. plus you pass a little candy shop that's worth trying). Its a small place and can get a little busy but it's worth the wait (they will serve you drinks while you wait as well). They have both indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered the fried olives, miso chili Alfredo, and the olive oil carrot cake, and loved all of it. My boyfriend ordered the crab frittata, and the bee sting pizza, and enjoyed his meal as well. They have a good selection of unique drinks on the menu, as well as a 'wing it' option where you tell them what you like and they make something up for you, which I thought was very cool. I was given a strawberry orange daiquiri, and a pineapple apricot daiquiri which were both fantastic!

I stayed in town for a week with a friend and we decided to try Vern’s and we absolutely loved it. I had the Papa Lee Knows Best chicken with fingerling potatoes, and my friend ordered a pasta special with clams. Everything was delicious. Behind the bar, Jordan, Ben, and Brian were extremely friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. The atmosphere was great and the service was just as good as the food. My friend ordered a French 75 & I got freshly pressed Pineapple juice. I’ll definitely be recommending this restaurant. Love, love, love!
